Who is Dr. Marco Anselmino?

Dr. Marco Anselmino graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 and specialized in General Surgery in 1991. He currently serves as a surgical consultant at the Obesity Surgery Center at Policlinico San Marco in Zingonia.

Throughout his career, Dr. Anselmino has established himself as an expert in bariatric surgery, focusing on procedures designed to help patients with obesity achieve significant weight loss and address related health conditions. His extensive experience in this field spans over a decade, starting with numerous minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures that target the esophageal and gastric regions.

In the realm of bariatric surgery, Dr. Anselmino has gone beyond practical experience, exploring advanced technologies in minimally invasive surgery. This includes laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, and robotic techniques. His commitment aims to make the postoperative recovery process less painful and shorter for patients. Dr. Anselmino began his medical career in 1985 at the University of Padua, where he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery and later specialized in General Surgery.

His training includes international experience in the United States, where he completed an Esophageal Surgery Fellowship at Creighton University in Omaha.

His strong interest in and expertise with advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques—particularly laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, and robotic—led him to serve as a teacher and tutor for the laparoscopic bariatric surgery program at the European Surgical Institute (ESI) in Hamburg, Germany, beginning in 2003. He later became the director and instructor of laparoscopic bariatric surgery courses at the Azienda Ospedaliera-Universitaria Pisana.

Since 2007, he has also taught surgery at the School of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the University of Pisa. Since 2010, he has served as a professor of surgery for Master’s programs in Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Diabetes Therapy.

Currently, his primary role is as a surgical consultant at the Obesity Surgery Center at Policlinico San Marco.
