Little is known about possible hormonal interaction after gastric bypass with single anastomosis. Besides early satiety, some of the introduced food is not absorbed.  <\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h2>What does it consist of?<\/h2>\n<h1><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3917\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico-768x767.png 768w, https:\/\/www.dottormarcoanselmino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mini-bypass-gastrico.png 1201w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h1>\n<p>The surgery consists of an initial restrictive surgical procedure aimed at creating a small vertical gastric pouch, with a volume of about 60 ml, pre-positioned to accommodate food and no longer communicating with the rest of the stomach, which, however, is left in place.<\/p>\n<p>The second half of the surgery, involves joining (anastomosis) the gastric pouch with the small intestine, &#8220;skipping&#8221; (by-passing), however, a 200-250 cm stretch measured from the duodenum. The procedure, as with standard by-pass, is characterized by the possibility of complete reversibility to the original anatomical condition. <\/p>\n<p>Mini gastric bypass has two differences from classic Bypass:<br>The creation of a long gastric reservoir.<\/p>\n<p>The packing of a single anastomosis between dissected stomach and intestines.<br>Similar to gastric bypass, in mini gastric bypass the stomach and duodenum are also completely excluded from food transit.<\/p>\n<p>After this surgery, the excluded stomach, duodenum and biliary tract can no longer be explored by traditional methods. Mini bypass results in a decrease in body weight by the mechanism of reducing the amount of food intake. <\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h2>What may be the typical complications?<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Iron and\/or Vitamin B12 and\/or folic acid deficiency anemia. It is mainly related to the exclusion from food transit of most of the stomach and the entire duodenum. This complication can be prevented or corrected by oral or intramuscular or intravenous administration of the deficient substances.  <\/li>\n<li>Calcium deficiency osteoporosis, also due to the fact that food no longer passes through the duodenum, the main site of its absorption. Oral supplementation may be necessary. <\/li>\n<li>Ulcer at the point where the stomach joins the intestine (anastomotic ulcer). This rare complication, more common in smokers and drinkers, is usually prevented or corrected with medical therapy but may require reoperation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><br><\/div>\n<h2>Which patients can benefit from it?<\/h2>\n<p>Gastric bypass with single anastomosis finds indication mainly in patients with BMI &gt; 50 (super-obese) in the absence of gastro-oesophageal reflux.<\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h2>Follow-up<\/h2>\n<p>Follow-up visits are essential to optimize weight loss and to prevent or treat some possible complications (gastroesophageal reflux, iron and vitamin deficiencies).<\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h2>Are there preparedness standards?<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>An esophagogastroduodenoscopy in order to rule out reflux esophagitis and possible gastro-duodenal pathology represents, as with other bariatric surgeries, a critically important examination in preparation for surgery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a restrictive intervention with an important malabsorptive component.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4661,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5063","chirurgia-bariatrica","type-chirurgia-bariatrica","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.7 -
